Nine Academic Fellowships leading to guaranteed, permanent academic positions are available at the University following a successful bid to Research Councils UK (RCUK).

The five-year Fellowships are available in the following research areas: Nano-Science and Quantum Information, Functional Genomics, Performativity, and Communication Systems.

Applicants should have sufficient postdoctoral experience to demonstrate their outstanding research potential and must not currently have a permanent position. The partial funding provided by RCUK is flexible enough to accommodate researchers who may have their own funding initially, for example via existing Fellowship or Research Council grant, but not for the later years of the Academic Fellowship. Applications from such individuals would be particularly welcome.

Research Councils UK recently announced the award of nearly 400 new Academic Fellowships nationally to provide postdoctoral or contract researchers with more attractive and stable paths into academia. Further details, including duties, are available at www.rcuk.ac.uk/acfellow/
