The Aerospace industry in the South West can now take advantage of a range of scholarships, bursaries and subsistence funding, thanks to sponsorship by the West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF).
The training is offered through the Bristol Aerospace Integrated Graduate Development Scheme (IGDS), which is an academic-industrial partnership whose members include the University of Bristol, the University of the West of England, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, Moog Controls, Agusta Westland and the MoD. It provides modular training on a full- or part-time basis to graduates working in all areas of the aerospace sector as well as offering a variety of awards from Certificate to Engineering Doctorate level. The programme also offers the opportunity of undertaking modules on an individual basis as short courses. Students can expect to improve technical engineering skills, whilst learning and broadening business and management skills to enhance their careers in Aerospace.
Lieutenant Nick Bowser, an engineer in the Royal Navy and a current graduate, states: "As a holistic broadening tool for the professional air engineer, the programme is unparalleled by any other UK academic institution. It can lead to an academic qualification that provides a real enhancement to the delegate's credibility as a professional within the aerospace industry and to their own market worth."
