Western intelligence, Osama Bin Laden and international terrorism
Members of the public are in for a fascinating evening if they visit the University of Bristol on
Thursday, March 14.
Christopher Andrew, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at Cambridge University, is to give a talk with the dramatic title of Western Intelligence, Osama bin Laden and International Terrorism.
In the lecture Professor Andrew will explore the political history of international terrorism, with particular reference to Osama bin Laden and the role and influence of intelligence agencies.
Since 1980 Professor Andrew has been a regular presenter of TV programmes such as The Fatal Attraction of Adolf Hitler and The Cambridge Moles. He has also written many books on similar themes including For the President's Eyes Only and KGB.
The Policy and Politics Annual Lecture is hosted by Bristol University's School for Policy Studies which was recently awarded the highest grade for excellence in Social Work research. It was the only Social Work department in the country to get the highest grade.
Professor Andrew's talk will start at 5.15 pm in the Reception Room of the Wills Memorial Building, Queen's Road. Admission is free and refreshments will be served afterwards.
