Centre for International Law: 'Discussing the role of international law in armed conflict'

27 April 2022, 3.00 PM - 27 April 2022, 5.00 PM

The Moot Court, 8-10 Berkeley Square

We are very pleased to invite our Law students to an event discussing the role of international law in armed conflict with two international lawyers who have worked in the field for over 30 years.

Chaired by the Law School's Associate Professor Lawrence Hill-Cawthorne, the event invites Colonel Jo Bowen, who has worked as a legal adviser in the army for over 25 years, and David Goddard, a legal adviser at the FCDO who worked for 12 years in the Royal Navy, to share their experiences of working with the law of armed conflict.

The panellists will share details of their career path, the benefits and challenges of employing international law during armed conflict and some of their career highlights.

There will be plenty of time for questions from students, regarding both the technicalities of the applicable law as well as on more general career advice for those students considering pursing international law careers.

This will be hybrid so you are very welcome to attend in person or online. Please register for the event via Eventbrite.

You will receive the online joining link via your registration confirmation. Please note there will be an 'in person' cap for this event due to the room capacity.
