About us

The Centre for European and Public Law brings together leading scholars based in the School of Law. It aims to foster collaboration and excellence in scholarship and teaching as well as provide a platform for public engagement.

The Centre for European and Public Law aims to be intellectually inclusive and promoteresearch into European and public law utilising a range of methodologies including doctrinal, socio-legal and comparative approaches. Our members pursue world-class research on pressing questions across a broad range of legal, policy-based and philosophical issues, including the changing nature of the UK’s constitution, administrative law and justice, the law and governance of the European Union, human rights, the UK’s relationship with the EU post-Brexit, and democratic and constitutional theory. The Centre provides a supportive environment in which projects and ideas can be discussed, challenged and developed.

Many of our Centre members regularly engage with external stakeholders. As a platform to disseminate work, the Centre creates opportunities to engage with the wider legal community, notably with policymakers and practitioners.
