Public lecture: From Transnational Borders to No Borders? Commoning, Abolition and Imagining Otherwise

21 May 2025, 5.30 PM - 21 May 2025, 7.00 PM

Professor Miriam Ticktin, Bristol Benjamin Meaker Distinguished Visiting Professor

Lecture Theatre G.09, Fry Building School of Mathematics, Woodland Road.

Please reserve your place at this lecture

In this public lecture Professor Ticktin will discuss the transnational politics of border walls, and the transnational political movements that work to counter enclosures and forms of containment. These struggles sometimes use the language of ‘no-borders’, and they involve a similar set of transnational circuits as do the technologies and designs of border walls, but with the opposite goal. Ticktin will discuss these different forms of alterpolitics, grounded in collective living, and abolitionist forms of world-making.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception. Further information.
