Have you booked for the Innovation Showcase?

Press release issued: 1 April 2022

Invitations are now going out so don’t delay, book today.

Bookings are now open and invitations going out for the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s annual Innovation Showcase – this year it’s bigger, better, in person, face to face, and non-virtual. Graduating students from the Centre’s ground-breaking integrated Masters’ programmes will be displaying their Demonstrator final year projects to an invited audience from 3pm on Thursday 5th May.

This year’s Demonstrator projects have tackled challenges such as women's safety, tattoo platforms, contraceptive packaging, mental health and wellbeing for students, reducing student waste and funding renewable energy, among many others.

“After two years of presenting in a virtual world, we’re excited to allow an audience back into the room,” commented Neil Coles, External Partnership Manager. “The students’ projects cover an exciting range of formats and creative approaches which has to be seen  to be believed, so we’re delighted that they will get the chance to show off their work in person this year.”

The Demonstrator is the flagship final year project for Centre Masters’ students, and creates a space for them to hone and deepen their capabilities in creativity, design thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship by applying those skills to a specific, significant challenge or problem. Students can work in teams or as individuals to focus on a topic or challenge of their own choosing and work towards a solution.

“The Showcase is the result of four years’ of hard work from all of us on the cohort,” said Alex Asher, one this year’s graduating students. “We’re really looking forward to showing off our work and celebrating our achievements with the Centre team and the region’s amazing business community.”

The event is open to visitors from Bristol, Bath and the region’s business communities as well as Centre for Innovation partners and collaborators, and is a great opportunity to meet the next generation of innovators as they enter the next phase of their careers. Many previous graduates have gone on to develop their Demonstrator projects into successful start-ups, including Peequal and Kaedim.
