Inspiring Innovation Conference

The Centre for Innovation held a one-day conference focused on bringing regional businesses into the university to discuss how significant innovation can be enabled in a range of organisations – from start-ups through to multinational corporations.

The timetable for the conference was packed and held as part of the innovation Week the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship holds annually. First speaker of the day,Will Butler-Adams (Managing Director of Brompton Bikes) talked about the innovation journey of Brompton and the changes in culture during growth.

Andy Littledale (former Director of Media at Twitter) and visiting Professor to the centre talked about he huge potential of CondenseReality in the entertainment media. The technology the company produces allows realtime 3D capture and streaming of artists and the company has recently joined forces with the BBC to produce streaming content online. 

Jonathan Scudder, Co-founder of ForgeRock and lecturer at the Centre spoke about his experience of taking a startup all the way through to Unicorn status and the immense amount of development this takes. 

Finally, Deborah Meaden, renowned entrepreneur and regular on Dragons Den gave the keynote lecture to a packed hall. Deborah remained to meet some of the students and take a look around at some of the work being done here.
