Approximately 12,400 ha of freehold land and 2,500 ha leased from Forest Enterprise.
The majority of Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA) is situated on the Mynydd Epynt, a wild plateau covered largely by blanket bog and grass, intersected by streams. While Sennybridge camp is within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the training area is not, and lies to the north.
SENTA was acquired by the War Office in 1939, displacing the rural community living on the Epynt, and is a major field firing area for infantry and artillery.
SENTA contains 3 Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI); 1500 ha of woodland; and is important archaeologically, with medieval agricultural systems still evident in the landscape.
