History of the School
A History of the School of Geographical Sciences
The School produced a booklet illustrating the history of the School since 1920 for the University's Centenary Celebrations 2009. Click here for the text, as flipbook hosted at an external website with adverts.
In time, we hope to host or signpost reflections from our alumni on these pages. Do contact geog-connects@bristol.ac.uk if you are interested in contributing.
The School of Geographical Sciences (formerly the Department of Geography) has been in existence since 1920. It occupies some of the oldest buildings at the University of Bristol and was originally built to house the Medical School in 1892.
Haggett on the School and Peel
In 2006, we were extremely privileged to have Prof. Peter Haggett present a history of the School and the influential role played by R. F. Peel. This was captured in video format (50 mins) and is released here as part of the School's Centenary 2020 celebrations.
