8 July 2019, 9.00 AM - 11 July 2019, 4.00 PM

Merchant Venturers Building, 75 Woodland Rd, Bristol, BS8 1UB

Changemakers is an event that aims to break down stereotypes and highlight the excellent opportunities available to young women interested in a career in the tech industry. Over an exciting four days of skills development, inspiring seminars and industry insight, teams will work together to develop a piece of technology to support a social or ecological campaign. *Participants do not need previous programming experience to take part, this opportunity is open to students from years 9-12.

Participants will:

  • Learn programming and software development skills;
  • Be inspired by ‘Herstories’ told by industry professionals and academic staff;
  • Take part in a hackathon event to develop a piece of technology to support a social or ecological campaign;
  • Develop soft skills; communication, teamwork and ideation development; and be mentored by industry professionals and university students.

We are living in uncertain times: it is more important than ever that young women have a voice and are encouraged to develop the skills they will need to tackle some of the big issues humanity is faced with.
