The Inside Track Seminar - How to choose the right mentor for you

24 November 2015, 1.00 PM - 24 November 2015, 2.00 PM

Gareth Hughes, University of Bristol Careers Service

1.11A Merchant Venturers Building

Your industrial mentor is an immensely useful resource to help with your career development, and so it's important to choose the right one for you.

This session is designed to help you identify what stage you are up to in your career planning, how a mentor can support you with it and which person would be best suited to provide the information that you need.

You will hear from the Careers Service about how to understand your own motivations, values, skills and experience, and how to research the companies effectively to see which would be your best fit.

Bring your lunch – all Faculty first year students welcome.

The talk will take place 1-2pm on Tuesday 24th November in 1.11A MVB.

The Inside Track Seminar series is an informal forum aimed at students to provide a regular opportunity to discuss in an open environment any industry or careers related issues you have. Each week will have a theme, but there will also be the opportunity to bring any other questions you have (e.g. about CVs, job applications, types of industry, internships etc.). Members of staff from the Careers Service and Industrial Liaison Office will be at each session, and each week we will invite relevant guests from industry.
