Grill - a slice of publicity
Theatre Collection
This innovative piece of marketing was created by Julie Flowers and Rosalind Howell for their performance Grill…A Piece of Toast at the National Review of Live Art 1994 Platform. The toast is inscribed on one side with ‘Grill’ while the reverse reads ‘by Julie and Rosalind.’ The item has raised some interesting conservation issues for the Theatre Collection, as in normal circumstances food is not permitted anywhere near archives. The toast is therefore kept sealed and isolated from other objects, and stored in a controlled environment to aid preservation.
