Who is this course for?
This course is for people with little or no experience of open research practices.
You may have heard of open science, open scholarship or open research but would like to know more. Or you may have been told you need to deposit your data in an open repository and have some concerns about this. You may have been baffled by terms such as preprint, preregistration and open peer review. Or you may have wondered what is the difference between reproducibility and replicability? If so, this is the course for you.

What will the course cover?

  • Why the open research movement started and what it aims to do
  • The benefits, barriers and risks of open research
  • Key terms in open research
  • An overview of open practices that can be applied throughout the research process
  • A step-by-step example of setting up a project on the Open Science Framework registry
  • Signposting to major registries, repositories and other tools used in health and medical research, and further resources
