Evidence Based Early Diagnosis Conference 2024: Exploring new diagnostics – big promise, big challenge

29 May 2024, 12.00 PM - 31 May 2024, 2.00 PM

The Gateway, University of St Andrews, Fife

Cohosted by the Universities of St Andrews and Oxford and the British Medical Journal this event promises to be the start of a movement aimed at harnessing the new diagnostics in a way which works for people, industry and health services.

Medicine is being revolutionised by a set of new diagnostic technologies which bring together advanced laboratory science, enhanced imaging capabilities, genetic predictions and artificial intelligence. These technologies offer earlier diagnosis to save lives through world-leading innovation. But do they work? Is it always good to be diagnosed early? Do we know enough about the risks, diseases, and genes these tests offer to find? How do we get useful technology to patients – and protect people from poorly performing or clumsily introduced tests?
