Race Based vs Race Conscious Medicine

27 October 2021, 5.15 PM - 27 October 2021, 6.15 PM

online

Hosted in partnership between Bristol Medical School and Bristol BME Medics, this Webinar will explore differences between race based medicine and race conscious medicine.

Staff and students will present evidence arguing for why we must begin viewing race as a social construct and dismiss the biological assumptions of race that permeate medicine, affecting the treatment that racially marginalised people receive.

Starting at 17:15 this will run till 18:00, followed by a 15 minute Q&A with student and staff panelists. This event will be recorded. Tickets for the event are available via Eventbrite, and if hosting for a large group using one ticket (such as might occur in NHS Academy settings) please contact joseph.hartland@bristol.ac.uk or sharon.usher@bristol.ac.uk to let us know so we can track engagement.
