Session 6:  Employment

Deaf people live and work in the community as a whole.  Unlike Russia or China, deaf people have to find their own jobs and for most of the time are treated as hearing people are.  They have to compete with hearing people and very little allowance is made for the fact that they cannot hear.  People who lose their hearing are often at risk of losing their jobs.  In this part, you will deal with the pattern of employment among deaf people in the UK.
