8 November 2019, 4.00 PM - 8 November 2019, 5.00 PM

John Durrant, BDH

Psychology Common Room, Social Sciences Complex, 12a Priory Road

Abstract
John will show how engaging content and new experiences can be created  using a combination of archive material, specially shot scenes  and CGI modelling. He will describe his recent work for BBC2 recreating the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing and his work with BFI repurposing film content of Venice from 1898 to create new VR experiences. He will show how to fly with the artist Magritte in virtual reality, how to capture Buckingham Palace with photogrammetry, how VR will reduce knife crime and how he’s realised that the entire history of film and photography wasn’t photography after all.
