Digital publication

The University offers several different online platforms which allow researchers to publish digital outputs. These range from research project websites to long-term archival storage.

data.bris

The data.bris research data repository can be used by Bristol researchers to publish research data, this is often done to underpin an academic article. The repository assigns a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to each dataset and offers different levels of access from Open to Controlled.

Bristol Blogs

Bristol Blogs is a platform hosted on behalf of the University of Bristol by CampusPress, an education-specific WordPress provider. Bristol Blogs are available to staff and postgraduate research students across the University and can be used to create a standard research project website.

Research IT

The Research IT team are professional software developers with expertise in creating software for academic research. If you require a non-standard website (e.g. a site with interactive maps, lots of video or images) please speak with Research IT.

The Research IT team has worked with academics, Bristol City Council and community groups, in the Know Your Bristol and Mapping LGBT+ Bristol projects to support the creation of digital tools, including websites and apps, which enabled people to explore, research and co-create Bristol’s history, heritage and culture.
