Training and needs assessment

In the UK, we have designed training, based on extensive extensive needs assessment, that can be modularised around four themes:

  • legal and institutional issues (e.g. national and international laws around sexual violence/trafficking etc; national and international laws around asylum)

  • social, cultural and anthropological issues (e.g. migrants’ countries of origins, why people become refugees; RAS women’s journeys; experiences of gender-based violence; specific issues for female migrants)

  • managing individual conversations with RAS women (e.g. how to ask about sexual violence, how to respond to/manage disclosures of violence)

  • how to direct the identified victims to the appropriate services (what services are appropriate and available, how to make referrals)
