Changing media depictions of remote consulting in COVID-19: analysis of UK newspapers

Discussion questions

  1. The methods relied on analysing national newspaper articles. Do members of the public primarily source news and opinions from newspapers now?
  2. What does the paper tell us about the influence of newspapers on patient narratives?
  3. Does the more recent narrative of remote consultations being a ‘trade-off’, exacerbating inequalities or impeding therapeutic relationships, match with your experiences?
  4. Do you agree with the authors’ suggestions: ‘There is an urgent need to restore public trust in general practice in general and remote consulting in particular’?
