On 14 March 2023 one of Africa’s foremost young scholars, Dr Nkechi Owoo, delivered a talk on 'The Effects of Climate Change on Health Outcomes in Ghana’  as part of her Bristol 'Next Generation' Visiting Researcher Award at the University of Bristol, for which she is being hosted by BPI Director, Professor David Gordon.

Dr Nkechi Owoo’s research focuses on the link between health, environmental sustainability and wellbeing - exploring the effects of climate change on health outcomes and how these relationships are moderated/ mediated by poverty.
