BPI New Board Appointments

The BPI are delighted to announce four new members to the Board.

Dr Camilla Morelli, lecturer in Social Anthropology, Department of Anthropology and Archaeology. Camilla has a special interest in childhood & youth particularly how play and everyday interactions can be a catalyst for social and economic change. In recent years her work has been with the Matses people in Peruvian Amazonia looking at children's key role in the ongoing transition from hunter-gatherer lifestyles in the rainforest to urban livelihoods and money-based economies. Camilla's experience with children in a LMIC provides a great opportunity for intersectional research in a variety of areas, including child health and development, and livelihood and debt. 

Honorary Professor Julie Mytton, Honorary Professor, Bristol Medical School. Julie's research interests centre on global health and injury prevention. She holds the position of Co-Director for an NIHR Global Health Systems and Policy Research Award to improve road safety in Nepal.  Her other research interests include head injury prevention in children and child public health. Her addition to the board with strengthen our research in child health and development.

Professor Tonia Novitz Professor of Labour Law, University of Bristol Law School. Tonia is a founding co-director of the Bristol Centre for Law at Work. Her research interests include collective labour rights, international and EU trade, sustainability and migration. She has also written on the relationship between sustainable development and labour standards in the gig economy. Her publications have also been cited in the United Kingdom Supreme Court. Her area of research intersects with livelihoods, personal finance, debt and poverty.

Dr Caitlin Robinson, Research Fellow and Proleptic Lecturer, School of Geographical Sciences. Caitlin currently leads a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship project mapping ambient vulnerabilities in UK cities. Her research is focused on the causes and consequences of different types of spatial inequality, particularly energy poverty and energy justice. Her work intersects with all five of the BPI research clusters.
