Courses and programmes

Students on our taught programmes develop critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills while exploring fundamental questions alongside a complementary discipline. This interdisciplinary approach broadens perspectives, enhances employability, and prepares graduates for diverse careers and further study.

  • Undergraduate courses
Our undergraduate Philosophy programmes include both single honours and interdisciplinary joint honours degrees, enabling students to study Philosophy alongside disciplines from the sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
  • Postgraduate programmes
Our MA Philosophy combines rigorous research training with flexible study options, allowing you to specialise in Ethics, Political Philosophy, Logic, Mathematics, Physics, or Cognitive Sciences whilst our PhD opportunities allow you to advance your philosophical research, supported by leading academics, an active research culture, skills training, and opportunities to develop teaching expertise.
Definitely do Philosophy at Bristol! Not only is the course really well organised and flexible, but the department is so welcoming too. Cotham House provides such a lovely community space and people are always willing to just have a chat about the meaning of life.
