Get Hired: Hundreds of students to meet employers at jobs fair

Students and recent graduates meet businesses at a previous Get Hired jobs fair.

Press release issued: 2 May 2023

Scores of businesses are heading to Bristol for the University of Bristol’s Get Hired careers fair.

Students can chat to industry professionals, get careers advice and find out about graduate and internship vacancies at Bristol Beacon, Trenchard Street, on Wednesday, May 3.

This year sees an increase in small and medium sized businesses at the fair, including local firms like Osprey Group (engineering), Green Frog Connect (electrical infrastructure) and Dynisma (driving simulators).

The event, which runs from 12.30 pm to 4 pm, includes CV advice drop-ins, dedicated areas for neurodivergent students and recent graduates and free professional headshots for LinkedIn. There will be tailored support for those soon to graduate in the ‘2023 Grad Zone’.

The event is put on by the University’s Careers Service, which helps students gain employability skills, secure jobs, start businesses and access internships. Graduates can also get support for three years after they finish their studies.

A recent study found that Bristol graduates are the fourth most targeted by top UK employers like the BBC, Dyson, MI5, PwC, Google and Allen & Overy.

Rob Taffinder, Assistant Director of the University’s Careers Service, said: “Seeing our students get inspired by employees from amazing organisations makes Get Hired a real calendar highlight for us.

“Bristol graduates are getting snapped up quickly – this is a chance for both employers and students to get ahead of the game.”

Get Hired is sponsored by Outlook Energy, Corrigan and Davitt Jones Bould.
