New appointments set the stage for growth in Department of Management

18 September 2017

The Department of Management in the University’s School of Economics, Finance and Management is entering a significant phase of expansion in both research and teaching.

In preparation for this, the department has made several new appointments, including new professors in innovation, healthcare management, marketing and operations management.

‘While many of our competitors offer a more traditional Business School approach, we’re uniquely positioned owing to our interdisciplinary, social sciences approach to management, organisation and innovation,’ said Professor Andrew Sturdy, Head of the Department of Management.

‘Our focus is to ensure our students develop the knowledge and skills to help them compete as successful, innovative employees and citizens of the future, who can thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing world while retaining a strong sense of social responsibility,’ said Professor Sturdy. ‘The interdisciplinary base of many of the new appointees and their engagement in global challenges complements the evolution of our teaching and research.’

The department’s expansion is closely tied to the new University Strategy, especially the new Temple Quarter development which will bring together scholars from engineering, science, social science and the humanities.
