A manager from the University of Bristol’s Human Resources team has become the 500th person to volunteer at the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games, which will be held in Bristol and Bath in August.

Clare Brophy, a staff-development manager, who last year volunteered as a gamesmaker at the London Olympics, has chosen to give up more of her time this summer and take up the role of venue manager at Hengrove Park Leisure Centre where the aquatics events will take place.

Special Olympics GB is a charity that provides training and competition opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

The National Summer Games will open on 28 August and continue until 1 September.
