Bristol professor on BBC World Service

9 January 2013

Professor Alex Bentley of the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology was part of a panel discussion about imitation on the BBC World Service's The Forum.

Professor Alex Bentley of the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, an expert on copying and social behaviour, was part of a panel discussion on the BBC World Service's The Forum.

The discussion was presented by Zeinab Badawi and also featured musicologist Jan Smaczny and architect Robert Adam.  It explored how imitation is essential to human learning and advancement and asked whether there is a danger, especially in an era of instant communication and global capital, of us mindlessly copying the latest popular phenomenon or creating a monotonous look to our cities.
