The University’s Capital Projects Office has won the Client of the Year Award in the Constructing Excellence South West and the Chartered Institute of Building South West Built Environment Awards 2012.

The University’s Capital Projects Office has won the Client of the Year Award in the Constructing Excellence South West and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) South West Built Environment Awards 2012.

The citation praises the Office’s ‘excellent management procedures and experienced staff driving best practice principles into its £multimillion portfolio and supply chain’, and goes on to say: ‘[T]he Capital Projects Office has proved exemplary through enlightened client leadership, collaborative working, rigorous processes and controls, continual learning and focus on quality and commitment to sustainability.’

Patrick Finch, Bursar and Director of Estates at the University, commented:

‘The Estates Office is now engaged in its biggest ever programme of construction and development work in support of the University’s strategic objectives. I am therefore delighted that Constructing Excellence South West and the CIOB have seen fit to recognise the Capital Projects team in this way. Throughout the team, there is a commitment to achieve the highest standards of construction, procurement and delivery with a culture of continuous improvement. This culture pervades not just the University’s in-house team but the consultants and contractors with whom we regularly work in delivering the programme. I congratulate everyone involved in helping the Capital Projects team to clinch this award.’
