Renowned journalist Jeremy Vine to share wisdom at Students’ Union

Top radio presenter and journalist Jeremy Vine will give a unique insight into his celebrated career when he appears at the University of Bristol’s Students’ Union on Tuesday, 24 April. The event has been organised by Radio Academy South West Branch and is being held at the home of the University’s student radio station, Burst Radio.

Jeremy, who has had an acclaimed career at the BBC, will be joined by well-known radio executive, consultant and presenter John Myers as they both share advice to aspiring journalists in the audience.

High-profile roles which have made Jeremy a household name include being a presenter of Newsnight, political correspondent at Westminster, reporter on the Today programme and Africa correspondent based in Johannesburg.

He joined the BBC in 1987 as a news trainee and has gone on to become one of only four presenters in the history of Panorama, the world’s oldest current affairs programme. His recent special on the Dewani case, Panorama: The Honeymoon Murder, drew one of the programme’s highest ever audiences, peaking at over five million viewers.

In early 2003, Jeremy took over the news and music slot on BBC Radio 2 and has twice won Speech Broadcaster of the Year in the prestigious Sony Radio Academy Awards. He is also presenter of Points of View and cult BBC2 quiz show Eggheads.

The event is being held in the Students’ Union Bar 100, Queens Road, Clifton, BS8 1LN on Tuesday, 24 April. Those attending are asked to arrive at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Tickets for non-members of the Radio Academy are £10 and must be registered in advance on the Radio Academy website.
