International media coverage for metal-on-metal hip replacement study

Research into high failure rates for metal-on-metal hip replacements by a team led by Ashley Blom, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Clinical Sciences, was covered by BBC News, The Guardian and BBC Radio 4's Today programme and other media around the world.

A new study confirming that stemmed MOM implants are failing at much higher rates than other types, particularly those with larger head sizes and those implanted in women, was covered by BBC News, The Guardian, Daily Mail, Reuters, Daily Mirror, Bloomberg, Press Association, CBS News, Philadelphia Inquirer and the Toronto Sun.

The study was carried out by a team led by Ashley Blom, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Clinical Sciences.  Professor Blom was interviewed about the study on BBC News, BBC Radio 4 Today, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio London, BBC West Midlands and BBC Radio Bristol Breakfast.
