Around 60 staff volunteers from the University’s Academic Registry made a return visit to help renovate Lawrence Weston’s Community Farm.

Around 60 staff volunteers from the University’s Academic Registry made a return visit to help renovate Lawrence Weston’s Community Farm. The team spent two days helping to build a fence and renovate the farm's duck pond.

A community-managed project, the farm aims to improve the quality of life for local people by providing a range of educational and recreational activities such as farming and gardening.

Nadine Nero from the University’s Student Systems and Information Office, said: “It’s brilliant to be able to go back to the farm this year and see the difference we made last year through refreshing the farm’s garden and grounds. The farm provides excellent services to community and it’s great to be part of that.“

Bristol University is committed to supporting the city’s social infrastructure and was the first university in the country to have implemented a staff-volunteering day. This allows one day’s paid leave per year for each of the University’s 5,300 members of staff. In addition, over 800 students are involved in volunteering.
