Half of the students, those from Ireland and the UK, went on to Trinity College Dublin for further activities, while those from St Aloysius College in Malta remained in the Bristol labs before taking part in a series of cultural events. This was the second time that students from St Aloysius have been to Bristol, and the sixth Bristol-Trinity College Dublin summer school in the past five years.

Calvin Lim Yeong Yew, a chemistry teacher from Meridian Junior College Singapore, also visited the summer school in preparation for his students joining the programme in 2011.

Students from Spain and Italy regularly visit Bristol to engage in residential chemistry schools. Post-16 students from Jersey will be visiting in October.

Tim Harrison, ChemLabS Director of Outreach, said ‘It is very satisfying to see that visits to Bristol’s School of Chemistry are now considered part of these international schools’ normal schemes of work in just the same way that so many UK schools do.’
