The event will provide applicants with a taste of university life and the chance to see what the University has to offer. Bristol has an international reputation and remains one of the UK’s most popular universities in terms of applications.

All of the University’s undergraduate departments are taking part and will be hosting a series of activities and information events. These include over 60 different academic talks on a diverse range of subjects such as ‘Neuroscience: hearts may pump and muscles may switch, but brains rock’, ‘Freakonometrics’, ‘Physics of ice-cream’ and ‘Meet my mummy: self-mummification in Japanese Buddhism’.

There will also be a chance for students to visit University accommodation as well as an exhibition in the Victoria Rooms for them to find out more about the student support services on offer.

Over 200 student stewards, wearing red T-shirts, will be on hand to help visitors find their way around the University precinct. There will also be general information talks relating to many aspects of higher education in the Wills Memorial Building with specific sessions for parents, teachers, careers advisers and mature students.

Michelle Powell, the University’s Undergraduate Events Officer, said: “We are delighted to have so many people visiting us and we hope students find the day informative and enjoyable. Prospective students will be able to meet staff, listen to talks and view the University’s facilities to see what opportunities are available at Bristol.”
