David Lathbury, Director of Process Research at AstraZeneca and a Visiting Professor in the School of Chemistry, has received the ‘RSC Inspiration and Industry Award 2010’ for his commitment to supporting and delivering education in the chemical sciences, particularly at the school and university interface. 

The RSC Inspiration and Industry Award seeks to recognise the contribution of an individual in industry to the outreach, promotion or teaching of the chemical sciences.

Kevin Booker-Milburn, Professor of Organic Chemistry, has received the Bader Award 2010, which recognises eminence in organic chemistry, not previously been rewarded by the RSC.

The citation for Kevin's award was 'for his original and innovative contributions photochemical reactions and techniques, and to transition metal-mediated processes'.

Professor Tim Gallagher, Head of the School of Chemistry, said: “Many congratulations to both Kevin and David. These awards are thoroughly deserved and I am absolutely delighted for them both.”
