Volunteers will have the opportunity to find out more about environmental issues at the University, contribute to the environmental improvements being made and gain the skills and knowledge associated with environmental auditing. Full training will be provided to enable volunteers to conduct audits in departments participating in the University’s Green Impact scheme. No prior knowledge of auditing or environmental issues is required.

Green Impact is an environmental accreditation scheme with an awards element that helps University departments take actions to become greener. To achieve accreditation, participating departments must be audited and their level of achievement verified. More information on the Green Impact scheme is available online.

Volunteers will be required to attend a half-day training session on either 8 February or 12 February between 9am and 12pm in the Training Suite in the Students’ Union Building in Queen’s Road.

Working in pairs, auditors will be expected to complete one or more audit during April or May. You will be able to choose the dates and number of audits you complete, although all auditors are required to commit to carrying out at least one audit. Audits normally take between one and two hours to complete, depending on the size of the department.
