The event is being led by Dr Marc Holderied, Senior Lecturer in Biology, who will be speaking about echolocation in bats, bat pollination and the evolution of flower shapes.

British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters will also be at the picnic translating the event for people with hearing impairments. The event starts at 6.30 pm, tickets are free but booking is essential.

Nick Wray, Curator of the Botanic Garden, said: “This informal event will provide a unique opportunity for people to learn about Darwin’s work. There will also be the chance to meet people who are bringing Darwin’s work into the 21st century.”
