Professor Haggett receives top scientific honour

Professor Peter Haggett in the School of Geographical Sciences has been elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences for his excellence in original scientific research.

Professor Peter Haggett, Senior Research Fellow and Emeritus Professor in Urban and Regional Geography in the School of Geographical Sciences and the Institute for Advanced Studies, has been elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in the United States for his excellence in original scientific research. 

Membership in the NAS is one of the highest international honors given to a scientist or engineer. Past members include Albert Einstein, Robert Oppenheimer, Thomas Edison, Orville Wright and Alexander Graham Bell. Over 180 living Academy members have won Nobel Prizes.
