Galaxies, corals, fossils: three Leverhulme grants

The Leverhulme Trust has recently awarded three research grants to Bristol academics.

£124,606 over three years for ‘Dwarf Galaxies in the Hubble Space Telescope Coma Cluster Treasury Survey’, a project directed by Professor Steven Phillipps in the Department of Physics.

£161,477 over three years for a project entitled ‘Using deep-sea corals to test the role of deep Southern Ocean regulating CO2’, directed by Dr Derek Vance in the Department of Earth Sciences, Dr Andy Ridgwell and Dr Joy Singarayer in the School of Geographical Sciences, and Dr Gerd Kuhn at the Alfred-Wegener Institut fur Polar und Meeresforschung, Germany.

£89,142 over two years for a project entitled ‘Chemical investigation of animal digestive systems in the fossil record’, directed by Dr Ian Bull in the School of Chemistry.
