The meeting is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the secrets of the human body. It will take place at the University of Bristol from Wednesday 20 July to Saturday 23 July 2005.

Brand new, exciting research will be unveiled - helping us better understand exactly how the body works, including:

• An affair of the heart - amazing new insights into how males and females differ in heart function
• Pumping up the pressure - unveiling the secrets behind blood pressure and new insights into the origins and causes of hypertension
• Combating obesity - We like to eat and we need to eat! New research reveals developments in prevention and cure for the growing problem of obesity
• Human patient simulators - sophisticated, realistic, computer-controlled manikins will be demonstrated during the teaching workshop to show how they can be programmed to simulate abnormal physiology, disease processes and the effects of drugs. 

What is the Physiological Society?

Founded in 1876, The Physiological Society is a learned society with approximately 2,500 members drawn from over 50 countries. The majority of its members are engaged in research in universities and industry into how the body works.
