New showcase for Bristol research

Press release issued: 16 May 2005

A new website showcasing Bristol University's research capabilities goes live today.

A new website showcasing Bristol University’s research capabilities goes live today.  At the single click of a mouse from the ‘Research’ link on the University’s home page, visitors to the site can now get a feel for the sheer breadth and depth of Bristol’s research activity.

www.bristol.ac.uk/researchreview is an easily accessible, regularly updated showcase of articles about current research projects at Bristol.  It is an online ‘sister’ to the University’s re:search publication which appears three times a year and features lively articles by University academics on their current research interests.

The re:search website will provide a wide audience of academics, students, journalists, stakeholders and the general public with an up-to-date window on Bristol’s research activities.  As far as we are aware, Bristol is the first university in the country to have created such a site.

The University also has an online Directory of Experts, a user-friendly database containing the details of more than 200 of the University’s academics who are willing to talk to the media on a wide range of subjects from Aerodynamics to Zanzibar.   The Directory can be found at: www.bristol.ac.uk/media/experts

The re:search website was developed by the University’s Public Relations Office with the Institute for Learning and Research Technology and was funded by Research and Enterprise Development.
