Tomorrow sees the first of three free lunchtime public lectures at which Dr Dudley Shallcross, lecturer in physical chemistry at Bristol University, talks about air pollution, global warming and ozone loss.

Tomorrow sees the first of three free lunchtime public lectures at which
Dr Dudley Shallcross, lecturer in physical chemistry at Bristol University, talks about air pollution, global warming and ozone loss.

The first lecture [Tuesday, October 14] Air pollution, discusses what is air pollution, how it is caused, when it occurs and latest findings on risks to health. 

On October 21, Global warming looks at the evidence for climate change, what might be the consequences and how we can alleviate its effects. 

Finally, on November 18, Ozone depletion will reveal how the stratospheric ozone layer is formed and its importance.  Dr Shallcross will also explain how chlorofluorocarbons have led to its rapid depletion, in some areas during springtime and how effective legislation has led to a predicted recovery within the next 50 years.

Arranged by Bristol University’s Public Programmes Office, all the talks take place on Tuesdays from 12.30 to 1.30 pm at Jubilee Hall, Downend Folk House Association, Lincombe Barn, Overndale Road, Downend, Bristol, and there’s no need to book.
