Wellcome Trust Dynamic Molecular Cell Biology students visit Bristol Zoo for their annual Away Day

For this year’s annual away day we headed to Bristol’s famous (but soon to close) zoo for a day of talks from current and alumni students, as well as both academic and industrial visiting speakers.

It was a great opportunity to share and discuss the progress of all of our year’s cohort of PhD students through posters, flash slides and talks.

The day finished off with us all exploring the zoo with a glass of wine in hand, and then a dinner at the fantastic Bosco pizzeria.

The away day conference is always followed by a fun activity day. This year we fuelled ourselves with a pub lunch before trying our hand at bowling, with varying degrees of success!

This was a great chance for the newest intake of Wellcome students to socialise with the other years and discover more of Bristol.

A huge thanks to Dr Marc Amoyel MRC career development fellow at UCL, Dr Kovilen Sawmynaden Principal Scientist at Life Arc, and Dr Will Razzel, an Alumni Bristol Wellcome PhD Student and Insight Data Analyst at Babylon health, for all helping to make the day such a success.
