Between 28th March - 1st April 2022, Debra Long from the Human Rights Implementation Centre participated in a scoping visit to the Cayman Islands as part of a broader project, funded by the UK Ministry of Justice, examining oversight of prisons in the British Overseas Territories. 

The objective of the scoping visit was to engage with key stakeholders, such as the Governor's office, Ministry of Home Affairs, the Prison service, and the Cayman Islands Independent Monitoring Board (CIIMB), to identify good practice, as well as areas where oversight of places of detention could be further strengthened in the Cayman Islands.
