Seven IEU researchers recognised on annual highly cited list

Seven core researchers within the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit have been named on Clarivate's Highly Cited Researchers 2022 list.

The annual list recognises influential researchers worldwide, who have published multiple papers frequently cited by their peers during the last decade. The full list of names has been taken from papers ranked in the top 1% of most cited works for their field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index.

In total, there are 18 University of Bristol academics on the list this year, up from 16 last year, including several other colleagues from the wider Bristol Medical School. The full Clarivate's Highly Cited Researchers 2022 list includes 7,225 researchers from 69 countries.

Last month, IEU was also recognised in a ranking by h index conducted by Research.com. IEU director George Davey Smith was ranked 41th in the world in a list of the world’s 1000 “Best Scientists”, and 4th in the UK. Deborah Lawlor was also included in the list of 1000 best scientists (at 791th) , as well as placing 5th in the UK and 58th in the world in a list of the “Best Female Scientists”. In a third h index-based list from the site, Gibran Hemani was ranked 2nd in the UK and 137th in the world amongst “Rising Stars”.
