The Centre for Research in Health and Social Care (School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol) is pleased to welcome you to our annual public seminar: Visions of a National Care Service.

Nearly one year ago the Fabian Society launched an independent report offering detailed advice to Labour’s Shadow Health and Social Care Secretary and UNISON for the development of a national care service. It set out the case for comprehensive reform, not just extra spending, with a focus on: better inclusion; stronger rights; a new, branded public social care service; a fair workforce settlement and more affordable charges.

Our two speakers at this event will each reflect on key elements of this vision; consider its viability; and discuss how the crisis in care continues to impact on community members who use care and who work in the sector - offering examples of local campaigns and responses.

Presentations from:

The presentations will be followed by a drinks reception.

All are welcome at this open event, and registration is essential. We particularly encourage people with experience of social care services (providers and recipients) to attend. Please register to attend here to ensure a place.
