We have a range of student services to ensure you have access to support for all aspects of your university life - academic, personal and practical.

Academic support

Bristol is renowned for its outstanding academic environment. Whether you are a first year undergraduate student or PhD candidate, we will support you to reach your potential. 

Personal tutors

Most taught students have a personal tutor to meet on a regular basis. Your tutor will support you with your studies and can direct you to a range of academic support. Postgraduate research students are supported by their supervisors. Find out more about what academic support services are available.

Facilities

As well as the Arts and Social Sciences Library, we also have a range of study spaces to support your learning.  Many of our Schools also have their own subject-specific facilities. 

Language and academic development courses

Our Centre for English Language and Foundation Studies run courses to help with your academic language and literacy. They include:

Study skills service

Whether you're new to University, haven't studied for a while, or are part way through your degree, study skills are essential to your success.  We provide online tutorialsworkshops and drop-ins in addition to our free online self-study resources. 

Additionally, to help address the challenges presented by studying away from the university, we have developed a 'Study from home' resource. You can also join an online study lounge.

IT support and guidance

Living support

University life is full of ups and downs. We have a range of support available to all students, including undergraduate, postgraduate, home and international, to help you stay well so you can get the most out of your time here.

Settling in

Our staff are here to support you throughout your time at Bristol, from the moment you accept an offer. Welcome Week is a great opportunity to make friends and settle into university life. Look at our information for new students.

A safe environment

We provide a fair and safe environment for studying and socialising. We have our own police officer, and our security service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Wellbeing and support services

Being at university can be exciting but there may be times when you struggle. It can be difficult being away from your home, family and friends.
