HEFCE pilot survey into student ratings of undergraduate courses.

The Higher Education funding council for England (HEFCE) carried out a pilot survey of final year undergraduate students in some 20 higher education institutions in Summer 2003. The questionnaire was designed to evaluate students' views of their courses.

From a member of the survey steering group, this paper questions the practicality of the summary report suggestions and proposes more efficient data analysis procedures and more useable methods of presentation (PDF, 307kB). It is intended as a contribution to a wider debate about the introduction of such surveys on a routine basis across the higher education system.
