Jessica Tormo

How did your degree influence what you went on to next?

“After graduating in the summer of 2021, to say I was a little lost is an understatement. I knew I wasn't yet captivated by further study, and that working in a lab wasn't really for me. I decided to think on it abroad and moved to Paris to become an au pair for the year. While I was there, through research I discovered the medical communications industry. This industry combines science with creativity, two things I'm passionate about, and a fast-paced sociable environment to work in. I chose to stay in Paris, and I now work for Havas Health & You as a global account executive, on great team made up of people from all over the world. I'm a part of the managing & creation of advertising / disease awareness campaigns for pharmaceutical companies like Janssen, Sanofi and GSK. I hope my path might by an inspiration for those who would like to work in science, but also in a creative and fast-past environment!”

What advice would you offer to students contemplating a place at Bristol?

“There are so many possibilities out there that you don't even know about yet. Get curious! Try as many things as possible. Take every opportunity you can to experience something new and ask questions. Go to the career fairs, speak to careers advisors, and increase your understanding of your opportunities as much as you can. All of this will help you to find something that you truly enjoy and prevent you from feeling stuck.”
