THERE ARE NO BACKUPS OF ANY USER DATA ON BLUEGEM

The data on BlueGem's disks (e.g. /home, /projects/s11, /scratch etc.) are NOT BACKED UP. The data is stored on a high-availability and highly reliable disk systems that is unlikely to fail. However, this will not protect you against accidentally deleting data. If you accidentally delete any files, then there is no way to recover your data.

You should always BACK UP important data.

BlueGem will soon have access to the RDSF that will provide backup space for the /projects directories (only 1 TB of backup space per project). However, until then, please make sure that you keep a second copy of your data in a secure place.
